First Love

Before you saw my face, you knew me.
From the joy in my laugh, to the silence within.
Through it all, you were here, even before the beginning.
You thought of me first,
before sin came to be.
You thought of me first, before life had conceived me.
To my mother, I am her daughter,
and to my father, I am his first-born.
I was a concept, then a fetus,
into the body of this human.
But to you, I am more.
You thought of me first,
before the heavens and the earth.
I am not a mistake, a coincidence, or an afterthought.
I am your first love.

This is one of my favorite poems that you have written! It reminds me of how personal God is. The way you described God's love for us was so powerful. Being a father or a mother must be the most fulfilling role in the world. However, I loved how you said that we are even more to God than just His child. It is true that we are His first love. Every human born is intentionally created by God for a purpose. It is beyond amazing how God pours out every inch of His everlasting love to us every single day. Thank you for reminding me of how much God loves me and everyone in the world!
