Our small human lives,

leaping into childhood,

and the next moment—

crawling away from the unknown.

Each little step

seems to bring us

closer to the past,

or farther from this life.

I was born yesterday,

and tomorrow I will die.

In between it all

is this little human life.

You fill it with your

love and light.

And when I fall,

and rumble and cry,

I recall the hands that formed this life.

Consciousness is half of my mind—

existing for the reason of only passing time.

Purpose you gave me, to understand why.

Because of you,

I get to experience the greatness of life.

"Each step brings us closer to our past" reminds me that there are so many factors that play into our lives, whether it is our upbringing, trauma, and experiences, that will heavily shape our future. However, my favorite part was the end, where you beautifully reminded the audience that when this…
